In November 2017, NClear Inc. completed an on-site pilot demonstration showcasing their technology’s feasibility and efficacy in reducing excess nutrient concentrations in the process wastewater stored at a former phosphate chemical processing facility (aka Piney Point) in Palmetto, FL to environmentally acceptable discharge levels. This project was undertaken as a collaborative effort with HRK and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) to help evaluate a two-pronged approach to reduce the high TP and NH4-N concentrations in the Piney Point wastewater at sufficiently high treatment volumes, lower the immediate risk of further surface water discharges into Tampa Bay, and potentially fully treat all ponded wastewater on site.
